How to Fold a Fitted Sheet
4th March 2022Folding your fitted sheet can be very frustrating, you can never get the corners to fold in properly leaving a rumpled mess. Herewith a few ways to help you get the perfectly folded fitted sheet.
- Stand and Fold
- While standing, hold the sheet so that the wrong side is facing away from you.
- Grab the opposite corners of the long side, insert a hand into these fitted corners.
- Fold the sheet by bringing one hand over the other so that the two are now cupped over one hand. With your free hand up the next free corner.
- Tuck this corner inside the first two corners and repeat the process for the last corner.
- Now place the sheet onto a flat surface and straighten the edges.
- Fold the sheet in thirds so that the fitted ends aren’t visible, fold the sheet in thirds or fourths depending on sheet size.
- Using a Flat Surface
- Spread the sheet onto a flat surface like a counter top, bed or table and make sure it isn’t bunched up.
- Bring the bottom corners evenly to the top corners, folding it in half lengthwise, it should now be a long narrow shape.
- Tucking in the fitted corners to form a single cupped corner, the bottom corners on each end should now be neatly tucked inside each other.
- Fold the sheet in half again so that the two corners are now together.
- Tuck all four corners together to form a cupped shape as per the first fold. You should now have all four corners tucked into each other. Smooth out the corners to get a square shape.
- To completely hide the fitted corners, take the end with the fitted corners and fold in thirds creating a long narrow folded sheet.
- Take the bulky end of the sheet and fold in thirds or fourths, depending on the size of your sheet. The corners are no longer visible and the sheet has the same appearance as that of a folded flat sheet.
- Tucked Corners
- Lay your fitted sheet onto a flat surface with the elastics facing up. It will have an ovel looking shape because of the fitted corners.
- Fold the sheet horizontally, take the top corner and tuck it into the bottom corner. Smooth out the wrinkles and any air.
- Tuck in the edges to create clean lines along the folds.
- Repeat with the remaining corner, make sure your smooth out the edges.
- Fold lengthwise, insert top corner into the bottom corner and repeat with the remaining corner.
- Fold sheet in half and if needed fold once more.
Continually smooth out the sheets between each fold to release any air this will eliminate any wrinkles or bulky shapes. Smaller Sizes Are always easier to Fold. These techniques works for all sheet sizes.
If you get stuck, don’t panic, start again, once you get the hang of it, it will make folding your sheets so much easier. Happy folding…
