How to make your Bed like a Hotel Bed

Arriving at your hotel and the first thing you want to do is jump into that bed… All the fluffy pillows, the perfect duvet and soft sheets. Sleeping in a fancy hotel bed is a treat, here are a few tips to recreate that Hotel bed.

  • Upgrade your mattress, if your mattress is more that 7 years old it is time to change it. Hotels use high quality mattresses because they know the importance of a good night sleep. Most hotel mattresses have inner springs and are thicker for a plush and luxurious feel.

 

  • Pillows, pillows and more pillows. It is heavenly to sink onto a bed with big fluffy pillows surrounding you. On your king or queen bed you can add 4-5 extra pillows. Most hotels will have at least a few down or feather pillows. See our synthetic Down/memory foam combo pillow.

 

  • Your sheets play an important roll in creating that hotel feel bed. Around 70% of people agree that they sleep better on clean sheets. Imagine slipping into bed with clean, fresh, cool sheets.

 

  • Flat sheets are mostly used in hotels, folded with hospital corners tucked in under the mattress with an additional top sheet under the comforter. Fitted sheets becomes over stretched at the corners.

 

  • A 300 tread count Percale sheet is all you need for that luxury feel. Percale sheets will give you that crisp cool feel, that will soften over time.

 

Choosing the right colour linen is very important. Hotels prefer to use white linen and here’s why:

  • White linen gives you that modern cool look. A white colour scheme is new and fresh and creates and calming effect. Any neutral or colour accessories will compliment your white linen.
  • White linen are easy to bleach when dirty making cleaning them hassle free.

How to fold your flat sheet to give you that perfect hospital corner:

  • Place a flat sheet on your mattress, tuck in the four sides.
  • Create a 45-degree angle on the corners and tuck them in.

Don’t forget to tuck in your comforter this will allow you to show off your pillows.

Hotel beds are usually smooth and wrinkle free, don’t panic, here’s a tip to help you get that look.

  • Keep a spray bottle filled with water handy. Spray a light mist of water over your duvet or sheets, leave for a few seconds then smooth it out with your hands.
