Which type of mattress?

Choosing firmness
Firmness depends on how you sleep and your weight. Side sleepers usually prefer medium to plush. Back sleepers prefer medium-firm. Stomach sleepers and heavier sleepers usually need firm. Each product page shows the comfort level, and our mattress firmness scale explains each one. When in doubt, test it in store.
When to replace your mattress
Most mattresses last 8 to 10 years. Replace yours sooner if it sags, you wake up stiff, or you sleep better away from home. If your base is also old or sagging, buy a full bed set so the new mattress has proper support and keeps its warranty.
Mattress sizes
Measure your base before you order a mattress on its own: a queen is 152 cm wide and a king 183 cm, and extra-length sizes are 200 cm long instead of 188 cm. Every size is in our bed sizes guide for South Africa.

No. A mattress is the sleeping layer only. A bed (bed set) includes the base as well.
Yes, if the base is flat, firm and the same size. A sagging base will shorten the life of a new mattress and can affect the warranty.
